Union Cabinet Approves ₹1.86 Lakh Crore Green Energy Corridor Phase-III
The Union Cabinet has approved the ₹1.86 lakh crore Green Energy Corridor Phase-III (GEC-III) to enhance India's renewable energy transmission. The project allocates ₹1.36 lakh crore for intra-state transmission and ₹50,000 crore for a 50 GWh battery energy storage system. It aims to bridge geographic and temporal gaps, improving power evacuation from generation-rich states to consumption centers, supported by ₹54,082 crore central funding and viability-gap funding to attract private investment.
