Northeast Frontier Railway Uses AI to Prevent Train-Elephant Collisions

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has implemented AI-based technology to prevent train collisions with elephants. Between January and September 2026, these measures helped save 255 elephants across four divisions: Alipurduar (106), Rangia (14), Lumding (122), and Tinsukia (15). The system uses acoustic detection to alert railway staff and train drivers in real time, enabling timely action including speed restrictions and increased patrols.

Blast in Ghaziabad During Preparation of Ravana Effigy Injures Five

In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a blast occurred while preparing Ravana and Kumbhakarna effigies for Dussehra in a community hall at Lajpat Nagar, Sahibabad. The explosion happened around 8:30 AM when firecrackers were being placed inside Ravana's effigy. Five people, including minors, were injured and referred to Delhi hospitals.
