WorldUNESCO Report Highlights Rural Gender Gap in India's Upper-Secondary Education
A UNESCO Global Education Monitoring report reveals that despite progress in education gender equity in India, a significant rural-urban divide persists. In rural areas, only 59 girls complete upper-secondary education for every 100 boys, with an overall adjusted Gender Parity Index of 0.89 nationwide. Urban areas have achieved gender parity, but rural girls remain substantially disadvantaged.
