WorldMysuru Records 59% Deficit in Southwest Monsoon Rainfall
Mysuru district received 59% less southwest monsoon rainfall from June 1 to September 30, with only 172.4 mm compared to the normal 418.5 mm. Farmers sowed 73% of the targeted 376,609 hectares during the Kharif season. Due to drought and rainfall deficit, over 33% of agricultural land (143,308 hectares) suffered crop loss. Relief of Rs 12,234.22 lakh has been sought. The Inter-Ministerial Central Team assessed the drought and crop damage across various taluks.
