BusinessHungarian Farmers Struggle to Preserve Paprika Amid Drought
Farmers Nikoletta Pajsan Nagy and Laszlo Pajsan in Hungary worked long hours to save their paprika crop during Europe's driest summer. Unable to irrigate much of their 2.5-hectare farm due to power lines, they manually loosened soil to protect the plants. Despite challenges, their harvest was larger than previous years. Paprika cultivation in Hungary has declined from 13,029 hectares in 1979 to 1,410 hectares in 2024 due to competition and other factors.
