Wisconsin Reuses Foundry Sand in Major Highway Construction
In the mid-1980s, a research project in Wisconsin explored reusing spent foundry sand in highway construction. Waupaca Foundry collaborated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison to study the feasibility of using this industrial byproduct as road material. This initiative led to plans for repurposing tens of thousands of tons of foundry sand in major highway projects across the state.
