Nandigram Police Officer Replaced Before West Bengal Bypoll

The Election Commission replaced the officer-in-charge of Nandigram police station a day before the bypoll in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district. Debashis Sarkar replaced Ajay Kumar Mishra, who was alleged to be close to the ruling party. Sarkar, currently traffic inspector in Tamluk and IC of Cyber Crime police station, learned of the change while managing traffic for CM Suvendu Adhikari's voting. Polling is on Tuesday, counting on October 9.
