PoliticsUS Supreme Court Allows Tennessee to Execute Christa Pike
The U.S. Supreme Court has lifted a last-minute stay, allowing Tennessee to proceed with the execution of Christa Gail Pike, 50, scheduled for 10 a.m. at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville. Pike, the only woman on Tennessee's death row, would be the first woman executed in the state in over 200 years. The stay was initially granted by the 6th Circuit Court to review claims about Pike's childhood sexual abuse and its consideration during sentencing.
