US Jury Orders Apple to Pay $5.7 Billion for Patent Infringement
A US jury ruled that Apple must pay San Diego-based Taction over $5.7 billion for infringing two patents related to haptic feedback technology used in iPhones and Apple Watches. The lawsuit, filed in 2021, claims Apple's Taptic Engine violated Taction's patents. Apple denies the allegations and plans to appeal the verdict, calling the patents invalid. Taction's technology is also used in headphones and gaming headsets.
