BusinessTurkish Fund Outflows Mostly Shifted to Bank Deposits in September
BofA Securities reported that in September, Turkish fund outflows totaling about 743 billion liras ($15 billion) largely moved into bank deposits. Between September 1 and 29, bank deposits rose by around 950 billion liras, with 884 billion from corporates. Of corporate deposits, 63% were in lira and 37% in foreign currency, aligning with recent dollarization trends. Despite fears, dollarization was contained, with only a $1.7 billion rise in FX-linked assets.
