Tirunelveli launches ‘Vettri Payanam’ free travel scheme for women

On October 2, 2026, Tirunelveli District Collector Anand Mohan inaugurated the ‘Vettri Payanam Thittam’ at Vaeinthankulam new bus stand, extending no-fare travel to women on 67 mofussil bus routes from Tirunelveli and 107 routes from Tenkasi, Nagercoil, and Thoothukudi. The scheme benefits women commuting daily to workplaces, complementing free travel on 189 city buses. MP C. Robert Bruce and MLA V. Narayanan attended the launch.
