Jamaal Howard, 46, convicted of killing convenience store clerk Vickie Swartout in Silsbee, Texas, in 2000, is set to be executed by lethal injection. The killing occurred during a robbery when Howard, then 20, shot Swartout and stole $114 and cigarettes. His lawyers claim intellectual disability, but the state disputes this. If executed, he will be the 30th in the US this year and seventh in Texas.
