Tennessee Execution Survivor Christa Pike Returned to Prison
Christa Pike, a death row inmate in Tennessee, was released from a hospital and returned to prison after surviving a botched execution attempt on September 30, 2026. Pike, sentenced for a 1995 murder, was unconscious and critically ill but is now at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center, where she will continue to receive medical care. Her lawyers said she awoke angry and confused with a long recovery ahead.
