ScienceTajikistan's Rogun Dam to Become World's Tallest Hydropower Project
Tajikistan is constructing the Rogun Hydropower Project on the Vakhsh River, which will be the world's tallest dam at 335 meters high. The project aims to boost renewable electricity, reduce winter power shortages, and increase exports. Two of six generating units are already operational, producing electricity during ongoing construction. The dam reached 1,155 meters elevation in August 2026, marking a major milestone.
