PoliticsSupreme Court Seeks Centre's Response on Relocation of 135-Year-Old Central Secretariat Library
The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Centre regarding the proposed relocation of the 135-year-old Central Secretariat Library in Delhi, which holds over 850,000 books. The court asked the Centre to file an affidavit detailing the space allocation and layout plan, amid reports that the new Central Vista Plan does not allocate sufficient space for the library. The library currently occupies four floors in Shastri Bhawan and faces uncertainty as only two rooms were allotted in Kartavya Bhawan-2.
