Supreme Court directs Andhra SEC on YSRCP plea to extend nomination deadline

The Supreme Court has ordered the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) to decide within 24 hours on the YSR Congress Party's request to extend the nomination filing deadline for local polls. YSRCP reported 87 cases of candidate assaults and obstruction across 19 urban local bodies before the October 18 deadline. The SEC was also told to delay the final candidate list publication until October 25. Local polls are scheduled for October 28.
