In 1906, Seattle shipbuilder Robert Moran sold his company for $3.5 million after facing health issues. He moved to Orcas Island, where he built the Rosario mansion. In 1921, Moran donated over 2,700 acres to Washington state, creating Moran State Park, a key recreational area. He died in 1943, remembered for his conservation legacy.
