Experts Investigate 19th-Century Shipwreck Exposed by Nor’easter in Nantucket

Maritime experts from the Egan Maritime Institute visited a Nantucket beach to examine wooden beams revealed by a recent nor’easter. The beams, possibly from the 1884 Warren Sawyer schooner, were found near the island’s southern shore. The institute will report findings to state underwater archaeologists to identify the wreck. The nor’easter caused heavy rain, flooding, and power outages along the Northeast coast.
