Scientists Track Deep Ocean Water Rising 125 Metres Daily Using Dye
Researchers released fluorescein dye nearly 2 km underwater in the Rockall Trough to study deep ocean water upwelling. They observed rapid upward movement of about 125 metres per day, much faster than previous estimates. This direct observation highlights the role of underwater topography in deep-water circulation and offers new insights into ocean dynamics. Future studies will examine similar processes in other submarine canyons.
