PoliticsSC Questions NHAI on Electronic Surveillance for Parked Vehicles
The Supreme Court on Tuesday questioned why the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) cannot implement an electronic surveillance system to track stationary or parked vehicles on highways immediately. The bench, hearing a suo motu case on a November 2025 road accident in Rajasthan's Phalodi that killed 15 people, emphasized NHAI's resources and the need for such a mechanism. The court scheduled further hearings for October 13 to address related applications, including highway encroachment removal.
