RBI Meeting Begins; Repo Rate May Rise by 0.25% Increasing Loan Costs
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has started its three-day meeting, where it is expected to raise the repo rate by 0.25%. This increase will make borrowing more expensive, leading to higher loan EMIs. Despite the hike, home and auto loan rates may not rise immediately, as banks might maintain old rates through the festive season. The rate hike has also boosted Indian bank shares and the Nifty Private Bank index.
