The Reserve Bank of India reported that India's current account deficit narrowed to $5.2 billion in August, down from $6.1 billion last year. The reduction was aided by a lower trade deficit and higher surplus in services. However, for April-August 2026, the deficit rose to $18.3 billion. Goods exports increased to $44.7 billion, while imports rose to $71.3 billion. Services surplus grew to $16.5 billion, and net transfers reached $12.8 billion.
