Rajesh Kumar Appointed New DGP of Arunachal Pradesh Amid Siang Dam Protests

The Union Home Ministry appointed 1995-batch IPS officer Rajesh Kumar as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Arunachal Pradesh. He was prematurely repatriated from the CRPF to his parent AGMUT cadre and took charge amid protests by the Adi community against the proposed 11,200 MW Siang River hydroelectric project. His predecessor Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal was transferred to Delhi.

SC Withholds BMC Commissioner's Salary Over Encroachment Failure
