After the Kerala High Court dismissed appeals by former CM Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter Veena T, and son-in-law PA Mohamed Riyas against FIR registration in the CMRL-Exalogic payoff case, Pinarayi moved the Supreme Court on October 16. The High Court ruled that accused persons have no right to be heard before FIR registration under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
