Over 20 Units of Illegally Mined Sand Seized Near Ambur

More than 20 units of illegally mined river sand were seized from private land near Machampattu village, Ambur, in Vellore district. The sand was taken from the dry Malattaru River, a tributary of the Palar River. Officials acted on a tip from farmer and activist J. Paranthaman. The site was sealed for further inspection and public auction by the Water Resources Department. Illegal mining has harmed local water resources and farming.

Former MLC Challenges Telangana Government's Prohibitory Land List in High Court
