ScienceNASA Plans Nuclear Reactor on Moon by 2030 for Lunar Base
NASA aims to install a 20-kilowatt nuclear reactor near the moon's south pole by 2030 to power a future semi-permanent lunar base. This reactor will support heating, life-support, and rover battery recharging. China and Russia are also developing a 10-kilowatt reactor for the International Lunar Research Station. Both nations seek to establish long-term moon bases despite the moon's alternating light and darkness cycles.
