Mutual funds have halted fresh investments in gold fund of funds (FoFs) starting Friday, following Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) instructions. This move addresses concerns over the current account deficit and rupee depreciation. Lump-sum, SIP, STP, and switch registrations for gold FoFs are paused, while existing transactions continue. Gold and silver ETFs remain open for investment. FoFs are popular among retail investors due to no demat account requirement.
