Mary Tsingou Recognized for 1955 Physics Experiment Role
American mathematician Mary Tsingou Nenzel contributed significantly to a landmark physics experiment at Los Alamos in 1955. Initially credited only in a footnote, her role gained wider recognition over 50 years later when the experiment was named the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam-Tsingou problem. She passed away at her Los Angeles home in August 2026.
