Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has ordered a vigilance enquiry into corruption allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from 2006, when he was PWD secretary. The probe follows a complaint by Malayankeezhu Venugopal about irregularities in awarding public works contracts. The complaint also references the 2006 suicide of Malaysian project manager Lee See Been, whose note mentioned Kumar and alleged corruption and harassment by PWD officials.
