The Kerala High Court has instructed the Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly to take legal action on a plea seeking the disqualification of Pala MLA Mani C Kappan. The plea follows Kappan's conviction in four cheque dishonour cases in Mumbai. The court refrained from deciding on disqualification itself, stating the Speaker must consider the pending representation. The direction was given on October 1 by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas.
