BusinessKarnataka's Bengaluru Dominates State Economy Amid Urban Growth
India's million-plus cities drive economic growth and urban opportunities. Karnataka has only one such city, Bengaluru, home to 20% of the state's population. Bengaluru contributes about 40% of Karnataka's GSDP, 99.5% of software exports, and 91% of air passenger traffic. Its per-capita income is Rs 8.56 lakh, more than double the state average. This concentration poses risks due to overdependence on a single metropolitan economy.
