Two children from Uzbekistan, advised to have above-knee amputations, traveled to Delhi where surgeons at Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital reconstructed their damaged thigh bones using bone grafts from their mothers’ fibulas. This technique, adapted for lower limbs, has been used since 2021 to help children with bone cancer and chronic infections retain their legs. Six children have been treated successfully so far.
