The Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) has advised its members to exercise maximum caution when finalizing contracts and delivery schedules for shipments to West Asian countries following attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Current rice exports to the region are about 70-80 tonnes monthly, only 10% of pre-Iran war levels. Federation president Prem Garg warned attacks on Indian cargo vessels could disrupt trade and shipping availability.
