Indian equity markets extended their losing streak to eight consecutive weeks, the longest since 2001. On October 2, the Nifty 50 fell 0.88% to 22,421.95, and the Sensex dropped 0.79% to 71,909.70. For the week, Nifty declined 3.1% and Sensex 2.7%, surpassing the seven-week Covid-19 crash sell-off in 2020. The streak has pushed Nifty down 8.7% and Sensex 8.4%.
