Bangladesh is experiencing a severe measles outbreak with thousands of suspected cases and hundreds of child deaths, primarily among children under five. The WHO rates the risk as high due to widespread transmission and falling vaccination rates. India, sharing a porous 4,000 km border with Bangladesh, is advised to enhance surveillance, vaccination drives, and public awareness in border states to prevent cross-border spread and protect vulnerable populations.
