India to Launch Its Own Smartphones by 2028, Says Minister

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India will have its own Indian-designed, manufactured, and branded smartphones by 23 October 2028. Speaking at the NDTV World Summit in Delhi, he highlighted the complexities of smartphone design and assembly, including integrating components like radio frequency, antenna, memory, camera, and power management into a compact device. An Indian company has already been contracted to design and deliver these phones.
