India Collects Rs 3.25 Lakh Crore Tax from Mobile Industry under PLI Scheme

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the government collected Rs 3.25 lakh crore in taxes from the mobile phone industry, far exceeding the Rs 19,000 crore given as incentives under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The tax includes Rs 25,000 crore in direct taxes and Rs 3 lakh crore in GST. The scheme has generated employment for 12 lakh people in mobile manufacturing alone. India exported Rs 2 lakh crore worth of mobile phones in FY 2025, with negligible imports.
