India and Japan to Strengthen Ties with Northeast Projects

India has a very strong partnership with Japan, with plans to further strengthen bilateral projects involving India's northeastern states, said Randhir Jaiswal, MEA spokesperson, on October 28, 2026. This follows agreements between Bangladesh and Japan to enhance regional connectivity, including Japanese support for Bangladesh's Matarbari deep sea port, which will link to northeast India. Japanese language training is also being promoted in the northeast to boost economic ties.

Former MLC Elvis Stephenson of BRS filed a writ petition in Telangana High Court challenging Government Order No. 341 issued on September 23, which placed lands of 16 BRS leaders, including K.
