HealthIISc Bengaluru Study Links Cardiovascular Risk to Cognitive Decline
A study by the Centre for Brain Research at IISc Bengaluru, published in the British Medical Journal, found that higher cardiovascular risk is associated with poorer cognitive performance in memory, language, attention, and executive function. The study involved 3,609 healthy adults aged 45 and above, using clinical, biochemical, genetic, and neuroimaging data. Chronic vascular risks like hypertension and diabetes may damage brain vessels, affecting cognition and increasing dementia risk.
