Government raises windfall tax on diesel and ATF exports, cuts petrol tax to zero

The Indian government increased the windfall gains tax on diesel exports to Rs 11.5 per litre from Rs 8.5 and on ATF exports to Rs 11 per litre from Rs 10.5 for the fortnight starting October 31. The tax on petrol exports was reduced to zero from Rs 2.5 per litre. Domestic excise duties on petrol and diesel remain unchanged. The tax aims to ensure domestic availability amid the West Asia crisis.
