Government Proposes Tougher Driving Test and Fee Waivers for License Updates

The Indian government is preparing amendments to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules to simplify driving license services. Proposed changes include raising the passing marks for the safe-driving tutorial from 60% to 75%, waiving fees for name and address changes on licenses, and eliminating charges for online Aadhaar verification. Applications for changes in name or address must be processed within 15 days. These proposals are not yet implemented.
