PoliticsGandhi's Hut in Bhitiharwa Survives 109 Years After British Attack
In Bhitiharwa village, West Champaran, a historic hut linked to Mahatma Gandhi still stands after 109 years, despite British attempts to burn it. Gandhi arrived in 1917 to support indigo farmers' struggle, promoting nonviolence and truth. Beyond opposing British rule, he initiated education, sanitation, and social awareness campaigns, including opening a school on November 20, 1917, with help from Kasturba Gandhi and others.
