Former Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and retired Delhi High Court judges S N Dhingra and R S Sodhi criticized Supreme Court Justice Ujjal Bhuyan for publicly commenting on disenfranchisement, an issue pending before the Supreme Court. Bhuyan described disenfranchisement as arbitrary and unconstitutional during a speech at NALSAR University. Gavai said judicial propriety forbids such public remarks by a sitting judge.
