ECI Tells Supreme Court No Change in Form 6 During SIR, Decisions Unanimous

The Election Commission of India (ECI) filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that no changes were made to Form 6 during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. All decisions related to SIR were taken unanimously by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi. The ECI also clarified that news reports are not considered evidence in legal proceedings.

I-T Department Extends Deadline to Regularise Foreign Assets

The Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for taxpayers to regularise foreign assets and income under the Foreign Assets of Small Taxpayers – Disclosure Scheme, 2026 (FAST-DS) until December 31, 2026. Taxpayers can pay 30% tax and an equal penalty on the fair market value to gain immunity from further assessment, penalties, and prosecution under the Black Money Act.
