Disinvestment Boosts Government Revenue in 2026-27 Fiscal Year
In the first seven months of the 2026-27 fiscal year, disinvestment and asset monetisation have significantly aided the government amid global uncertainty, high energy prices, and a weak monsoon. The Centre raised ₹62,124 crore by September, with ₹55,757 crore from disinvestment, reaching 78% of the ₹80,000 crore target. The October 14 approval to sell IDBI Bank shares is expected to exceed this target, signaling ongoing reforms and private sector involvement.
