Delhi-Guwahati Bullet Train to Pass Through Chicken Neck Corridor

The proposed bullet train from Delhi to Guwahati will pass through the strategic Chicken Neck corridor, a narrow 16 to 22 km wide stretch. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that to cross this sensitive area, either an underground tunnel or an elevated track above ground may be constructed. This will require two to three times the investment of a normal rail project. Final decisions await surveys and technical studies.

SC Withholds BMC Commissioner's Salary Over Encroachment Failure
