Chemical Leak in Toledo Forces School Closures and Evacuations

A hazardous chemical leak in Toledo, Ohio, led to evacuations within a 1-mile radius of 1050 Progress Ave and a shelter-in-place order for residents within 3 miles. The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department responded late Tuesday night, with the leak ongoing into early Wednesday. Toledo Public Schools and Washington Local Schools closed, and Shoreland Elementary served as a temporary refuge. Officials are still identifying the chemical and assessing exposure risks.

US Mortgage Applications Fall 5.3% Despite Rate Drop to 7.41%

US mortgage applications declined 5.3% last week despite a slight drop in 30-year fixed mortgage rates to 7.41% from 7.50%.
