The Centre has defended the Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Act, 2026, in the Supreme Court, stating it does not override the court's May 23, 2025 verdict or declare it void. The government emphasized the necessity of deputing IPS officers to senior CAPF roles for internal security. The Act came into force on October 8, and the cadre review ordered by the court is ongoing. Over 800 CAPF officers have challenged the law.
