Central Railway Fines Rs 140.8 Crore, Catches 18 Lakh Ticketless Travelers
Between April and August, Central Railway recovered Rs 140.8 crore from 18 lakh unauthorized travelers, marking a 40% increase in penalty earnings from last year. The Mumbai division led with Rs 58.5 crore recovered from 8.8 lakh cases. Authorities stressed that fare evasion affects revenue essential for passenger amenities and safety.
