Captain Smit Machchhar Honoured After Cockpit Attack with Head Injury

Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar and his flydubai crew were honoured by the UAE for their bravery during a mid-air attack on September 30. The ceremony revealed Machchhar's head injury, showing stitches from a compound depressed skull fracture caused by co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami's attack with a crash axe. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan awarded them the First Class Order of Zayed II for protecting passengers.
